Tareproof

Understand state obligation screening

Read screening rationale, supplied tonnage and reference information.

Before you start

Complete your company profile and selling footprint. Import sales and approve packaging for weight-based screening.

Access needed

All members can read screening; owners, admins and editors can save it.

Steps

  1. Open States & obligations and select the Reporting year.
  2. Read each state’s status and rationale, including Not sold here where applicable.
  3. Check supplied tonnage, revenue assumptions, program context and source/review information displayed for the state.
  4. If permitted, choose Save screening to record the current result for selling states.
  5. Verify current producer definitions, exemptions and rules with the PRO or state agency before making a filing decision.

Expected result

A saved screening is an organizational record, not a legal conclusion. Unknown thresholds must not be interpreted as proof of exemption.

Common problems

  • A missing weight or revenue value can make a screening incomplete. Complete your records before relying on it.
  • The initial setup snapshot and year-specific screening may differ because the latter can use imported sales and approved weights.
  • Tareproof covers packaging EPR in OR, CO, CA, MN, MD, WA and ME; it does not determine obligations for every law or jurisdiction.

Verify with official sources

Use the source and review information in States & obligations. Confirm current requirements with the agency or PRO; this guide does not replace their rules.
